BCP Data Center La Molina Peru Project

Project Overview

The objective of this project was to compare and make a final decision regarding seismic protection options for Banco de Crédito del Perú’s branch La Molina. The specific study aims to recommend the best option(s) currently available. The main recommendations were cost, risk, availability, reliability, operation, constructability, maintenance, and implementation according to plan. This study covers two scenarios: seismic mitigation for existing rooms and seismic mitigation for future rooms.

The building that belongs to a complex of buildings has an area of approximately 49,000 m2, with 6 underground parking levels and 5 levels of offices.

_For the existing server rooms, the seismic mitigation options studied were:

• Use of Upper Rack Bracing without Server Relocation.

• Seismic Isolation Upgrade for the Entire Server Room.

• Use of Upper Bracing and Server Repositioning.

• For the new rooms, the seismic mitigation options studied are listed below:

• Use of racks with integrated seismic isolation.

• Attenuation platforms under racks on a raised access floor (pedestal system with raised floor).

• Attenuation platforms under racks on a raised access floor (pedestal system without raised floor).

• Seismic-resistant racks without isolation, braced to the building structure

The comparison was performed through a SWOT analysis to determine the advantages and disadvantages of each option qualitative and later structural analysis.

The final adopted solution was the use of Unistrut P1000 bracing standard 12-gauge channel as seismic bracing.
