Interactive Museum Project
Project Overview
MUI is the first audiovisual museum in Chile. It is a large, specially designed space for visitors to enjoy an interactive audiovisual tour and a hands-on, participatory learning
experience. The structures of the different rooms dedicated to nature, space, games, and educational film were designed specifically for this purpose.
The two-story structure was modified to provide greater structural and seismic resistance in accordance with current seismic codes, as the original building dates back to 1943. The modifications included special steel frames, rod bars to provide lateral stability of peripheral
masonry, and the perimeter was reinforced with columns to reduce the possibility of out-of-plane wall buckling.
