Sulphuric Acid Plant Ministro Hales Mine Project

Project Overview

The acid plant at Codelco’s Ministro Hales division is an essential component of the roasting complex, designed to treat copper concentrates with high arsenic content. Inaugurated in 2016, this facility converts arsenic-rich gases from the roaster into high-quality sulfuric acid, producing approximately 250,000 tons of this byproduct annually, in addition to obtaining calcine, a clean copper concentrate.

UCansteng provided the structural/seismic review of the equipment for the plant, support structure, anchors, and connections.
